The landscape described by Du
Bellay, Balzac, Alain-Fournier or Genevoix have not lost their essential characteristics
as we are still referred to as "The Garden of France".
From whatever direction you approaches the Loire region southwards across the
immense plains of the Beauce, northwards over the harsher Berry countryside or through the
green wooded farmland (bocage) of the Gatine Mancelle - one is always welcomed by the
sight of vineyards, white houses and flowers (especially red roses!)
For many foreigners this is perhaps one of the most
typically French landscapes of all:
a peaceful, moderate and gentle countryside, where the living is pleasant, the joys of
life abundant and Mother Nature full of bounteousness!
