
The fortress was built upon a rocky spur overlooking the Vienne valley, on the site of a Celtic stronghold fortified by thibault III Plantagenêt, Richard the lionheart, his brother John and Eleanor of Aquitaine were among the famous house of this place. Visit of the fortifications including 12th to 15th centuries towers. Museum devoted to Joan of Arc who met here, in 1429, the Dauphin Charles who became Charles VII.
